Alain Menu And Yvan Muller To Participate In The 200 Km Of Buenos Aires
WTCC duo to lend their support to Chevrolet Elaion Team in TC2000 Stellar Round
ZURICH, 26th August 2010 - Chevrolet WTCC drivers Alain Menu and Yvan Muller will take part in the 200 Kilometros de Buenos Aires, the most prestigious round of the season of the TC2000, the highly-competitive Argentinean Touring Car Championship, on 5-7 November next. The two team-mates will drive the Chevrolet Vectras of the Chevrolet Elaion team, paired with their regular drivers, Guillermo Ortelli and Christian Ledesma, who has given the Vectra its first (and double) win of the year last week-end in La Rioja. The exact pairings will be announced in due course.
The 200 km of Buenos Aires, which takes place on the `Autodromo Óscar y Juan Galvez' of the Argentinean capital, is run on a double distance of the usual format of TC2000 races and hence, with two drivers sharing each car. Traditionally, guest drivers from around the world are invited to this event, which is the high point of the TC2000 Championship and attracts very big crowds.
Chevrolet WTCC drivers have been assiduously associated to the event in the recent past. Alain Menu has already participated four times in the event, always finishing on the podium and winning in 2006. For Yvan Muller, instead, this will be his first participation in the greatest South-American touring car race.
Alain Menu: "It is always a pleasure to be invited to this great event, which I love. The atmosphere there is terrific, Argentines are true motorsports lovers, and the TC2000 is an extremely competitive and closely-fought competition. I really look forward to be there once again and try to contribute to Chevrolet's success".
Yvan Muller: "In my career, I had the opportunity to race in many different disciplines and at the wheel of many different cars, but this will be something new and I am very happy to have the chance to discover a new circuit and a new championship, of which I have heard a lot of good things".
Wayne Brannon: "For a global brand like Chevrolet, it is particularly positive to build bridges between the various continents. This is true for motorsports porgrammes as in any other area. We are glad that the cooperation between the WTCC and TC2000 teams is going on this year too and we are sure that the presence of two great drivers like Alain and Yvan will be a plus for our brand and all Chevrolet fans in Argentina".
