Sixth row starts for Nash
James Nash will start his Team Aon Ford Focus from the sixth row for both of tomorrow’s World Touring Car Championship (WTCC) races at the Hungaroring, near Budapest after qualifying twelfth fastest in Saturday afternoon’s sessions.
In doing so the reigning British Independent Driver Champion also managed to make it into the elite Q2 session for the third meeting in a row despite the Hungarian circuit being new to both Nash and his team.
James Nash: “While twelfth on the grid isn’t where I wanted to be at least we’re here after my team worked very hard to repair the damage to the Ford Focus after the crash last weekend in Slovakia.”
“Our collective lack of experience of the Hungaroring compared to the other teams and drivers definitely hurt us in setting up the car for qualifying. Hopefully, though in race trim that disadvantage will be less crucial.”
“Making progress in the races is definitely going to be difficult on a circuit renowned for its lack of overtaking opportunities. Irrespective, I’m going to give it a real go.”
