ALAIN MENU FLOGS HIS HORSE: SECOND FASTEST TIME IN TESTING
Nicola Larini In 12th; Rob Huff In 17th
IMOLA, 19th September 2008 Chevrolet's Alain Menu set the second fastest time in today's testing session in Imola, Italy. Nicola Larini was 12th and Rob Huff 17th as the team worked on finding the right set-up for the revised racetrack which makes its reappearance on the WTCC calendar for the first time since 2005. Menu received extra attention today and will certainly continue to do so over the weekend as he drives the Chevrolet Lacetti `art car', a one-off black-and-gold horse livery representing the winning design of Chevrolet's pan-European `Young? Creative¿ Chevrolet!' design competition. The winner of the competition, Slovenian Adi Sumic, will be present this weekend to see his creation in motion.
Alain Menu (2nd): "It's a long lap with lots of corners and many undulations, and whatever works set-up-wise in one corner doesn't necessarily do so in the next, so the aim is to find the right compromise balance which works for the complete lap. Apart from that I had no particular problems with the car, but it was of course good to be amongst the quickest drivers. If I can get a good tow tomorrow I should be right up there. "
Nicola Larini (12th): "We were just looking to find the right set-up for tomorrow, which is why I ran different gear ratios than Alain, so we can compare since we both run more or less the same weight. We know where we are now and it sure looks good for tomorrow."
Rob Huff (17th): "Today was about learning the track again and trying out tyres. The car is difficult to drive with so many kilos success ballast, something you really notice under braking. The balance was all over the shop as well, but I'm sure we'll come up with a master plan by tomorrow's qualifying."
