Honda gets ballast drop for Qatar WTCC finale

Honda will benefit from a 30kg weight drop for the World Touring Car Championship finale in Qatar next week.

The weights are calculated on an average lap time calculation over three events, and for the final weekend of the season, Honda is the only manufacturer to benefit from a reallocation of weight.

In its final race weekend in WTCC, Citroen will remain as it has done all season, on the maximum weight of 80kg, while the Volvo, Lada and Chevrolet will remain on 0kg of compensation weight.

The French manufacturer will have achieved a special record in Qatar, now having carried the maximum possible compensation weight in every race in which they have competed since joining the championship in 2014.

The C-Elysee WTCC has never run at anything less than 1,160kg, the previous maximum weight in 2014-15.

Qatar ballast weights:

Car Gap Ballast
Citroen C-Elysee WTCC   80kg
Honda Civic WTCC +0.1s 30kg
Lada Vesta WTCC +1.1s 0kg
Chevrolet RML Cruze TC1 +1.1s 0kg
Volvo S60 Polestar +1.1s 0kg
