AUGUSTO FARFUS IN A SOLO LEAD

28,000 Dutch fans braved the cold wind from the North Sea to attend the first visit of the FIA World Touring Car Championship at Zandvoort. After the BMW domination in Brazil, the second meeting of the season turned in favour of Chevrolet and SEAT who claimed one victory apiece in two very close races.

In the first race Alain Menu converted his pole position into Chevrolet's first win, leading the whole distance from lights to flag. His team-mate Nicola Larini completed the marque's triumph coming home second. This was the first 1-2 two finish for Chevrolet since they joined the championship in 2005.

SEAT responded with Gabriele Tarquini's victory in the second race. The Italian driver survived a tangle with Andy Priaulx to take the lead and then managed to resist the attacks from BMW Team Germany's Augusto Farfus and Jorg Muller.

In spite of these results, Farfus and Muller are still on top of the Drivers' Championship, with the Brazilian now leading by 6 points. Tarquini and Priaulx are joint in third position, while Larini is fifth.

Luca Rangoni of Proteam Motorsport won twice in the Independents' class and was also able to finish on the overall podium (and best BMW driver) in Race 1. However, Roberto Colciago and Pierre-Yves Corthals proved that the fight for the Trophy will be tough.
