1-2-3 in Budapest qualifying for the Cruzes
Muller, Huff and Menu top the grid at Hungaroring
BUDAPEST, 5 May 2012: After a somewhat disappointing qualifying session in Slovakia a week ago, the Chevrolet Cruzes recovered to take the first three spots on the grid for Race 1 at the Hungaroring in Budapest on Sunday.
On a warm and sunny – albeit windy – afternoon, Yvan Muller claimed his second pole position of the season ahead of teammates Rob Huff and Alain Menu. These excellent results place the Chevrolet trio in an ideal position for Race 1, while in Race 2, by virtue of the reversed top 10 on the grid, they will start from rows 4 and 5.
The WTCC received a very warm welcome from the many enthusiastic fans and a big crowd is expected for tomorrow’s races at the Hungaroring, a track where finding the right rhythm is critical.
After eight of the 24 races in the 2012 calendar, Chevrolet is 126 points ahead of the competition in the Manufacturers’ standings, while the three Cruze drivers top the chart in the Drivers’ standings and are within 29 points of each other.
