Tiago Monteiro on the 4th row at Brands Hatch
SEAT sport driver in the top 10
For the 6th time in 8 rounds of the FIA World Touring Car Championship, Tiago Monteiro has qualified for the Super Pole this time on Brands Hatch circuit in the United Kingdom and as such the Portuguese driver for SEAT Sport, will start from the fourth row of the grid for the first race.
Tiago is one of the three of the five official SEAT Sport drivers to have qualified in the top ten in what was a particularly difficult qualifying for the Spanish team. Tiago was just half a second off pole position in a session where ballast played a big part in the final classification. "We have a 40kg less and it is a real burden on this track. We knew after the practice session that it would be hard to get into the top 10 but thankfully Rydell, Tarquini and I did it," Tiago explained.
Tiago skilfully passed the first phase of qualifying by recording the 5th best time, despite fierce competition from BMW and Chevrolet. "Everything went according to plan in the first session because I had fresh tyres at my disposal. But in the second session, with used tyres it was just impossible not to lose time. We will try to secure the best possible result but we know it will not be an easy task."
Weather forecasters have predicted rain with maximum temperatures not exceeding 17C. The 15th and 16th races of the FIA World Touring Car Championship will be broadcasted by Eurosport.
