Tristan Gommendy joins the WORLD SERIES by RENAULT
After his highlights in the Formula Renault V6 and a promising 2004 season in the World Series by Nissan championship, the young French driver Tristan Gommendy joins the World Series by Renault within the team KTR.
Gommendy is currently one of the most outstanding single- seater drivers. Winner of the F3 French championship, and also in Macao that same year (2002), Tristan finished third in the Formula Renault V6 championship in 2003.
With Saulnier Racing, Gommendy was one of the quickest drivers in the 2004 World Series, finishing 5 times on top of the podium. Now, the Paris born driver is ready to face a new challenge within the Belgian Team KTR, in the World Series by Renault.
The driver has managed to close a deal with KTR thanks to the support of his new personal sponsor, Jet-Seven.
" The decision to race within the Team KTR has been much maturated. In my opinion KTR is going to be one of the 2 most competitive teams in the championship. They have enough experience to help me in my goal: to win the Title ", has declared Tristan Gommendy.
Kurt Mollekens, the Team principal, feels happy to have a top driver in the Team: "basically I'm pleased with Tristan because I know that we have a real title contender for the first time since 2002, with Bas Leinders. We will be racing at the front again. It's important to prove that technically we can do a lot of things.
"The second driver will be Dutch" he adds, "it is not a secret that we are in talks with Van Lagen and Zwolsman, both were testing with us, and I expect to made an announcement later this week".
