ISR Racing's Sunday in Moscow was a story of wasted potential. On the Russian track, were the fifth round of the F.Renault 3.5 championship was held, the Czech team owned by Igor Salaquarda saw both Sergey Sirotkin and Christopher Zanella struggle for performance and fail to meet the weekend's objectives.
It was an unexpected outcome, especially considering that the morning qualifying session had seen home hero Sirotkin post the 6th quickest time and Zanella close the session in P8. With two top-ten starts the team hoped to bag a good point tally, but things didn't really go to plan. The Russian driver, who was still suffering from the flu that hampered him for the whole weekend, took the flag in P11 after a difficult start and a less than perfect pit-stop by the team. Zanella, meanwhile, was handed a drive-through penalty for not respecting track limits, demoting him to P23 and spoiling his chances for a good result.
Sergey Sirotkin: Q2 - P6; R2 - P11
“My start was good, but then I took the inside line for Turn 1 and I had to back off a bit, losing some ground. After the pit-stop I just cared about saving the tyres because I had a lot of wear at the rear, and so I couldn't finish in the points".
Christopher Zanella: Q2 - P8; R2 - P23
“Qualifying had been good and I had the potential to do even better than P8, considering that the red flag prevented me from making the most of my second set of new rubber. Compared to yesterday the car was much better, but the penalty after the pit-stop really ruined my race".
