On the 3d of December Roman Rusinov tested Gabord Competicion"s formula Nissan in Valencia.
The Russian pilot, who had already announced his plans to race for one of the leading teams in the next season (Moscow press-conference), said he"s satisfied with the first test-day results.
"Everything was just fine. I"ve met the team members and tested a new car. It"s something very unusual to me, because F3000 cars are driven in absolutely other way. This car, well, if you go faster - it has more and more grip!"
Valencia is not new for Roman, he won Renault International Finals there in 2000.
"It is nice to arrive here again. The curciut has been changed a bit< the line is a little new". It was planned that Roman would be accompanied by Heiki Kovalainen, Gabord"s pilot. But at the last round of WS by Nissan one of the cars crashed, so Roman will test one car alone.
"Tomorrow we"ll use new sets of tyres. Today I did first start at this type of a car, so there was no need to use new rubber. Tomorrow we"ll see what this car really can do".
WS by Nissan. Tests. The 2d day
The 2d day of Valencia tests was divided in two parts by the weather. Unusual cold morning gave Roman Rusinov the possibility to set the 1st time in the list of results, but soon it started raining, so the tests were shorted.
"In the morning the track was ice-covered(-1o), and the air temperature was 1o. There were heavy grey storm-clouds in the sky, it was not getting warmer. We waited for an hour, but it got warmer just a bit (4o). The track was still very cold, the tyres did not warm up, the line was too slippery. As it had been planned, we used the new set of tyres in the morning, and it immediately helped to set a better result - I made a lap for 1.25,0.
The sun tried to get through the clouds in the midday, it got warmer in the circute (14o). After the lunch we worked on the set-up and showed a very good result on the used tyres. Unfortunately, it started raining and we couldn"t use one more set of new tyres".
Roman and the team were satisfied with the results, because Roman"s time (using the old tyres) at this circute was 1.24,7. For example: the first Gabord Competicion pilot Franck Montangy"s time (made on the 17th of October) was 1.24,58.
"Everybody is satisfied. The most important thing - these tests allowed me to meet the team and build something regarding the future".
