Kerr lines up 13th in Monaco Round 2 Qualifying
Monte Carlo, Monaco - Robbie Kerr, #5 Team KTR - Qualified 7th in Group A, Starts 13th Britian's Robbie Kerr faced the demands of a 25-minute qualifying session today as the World Series by Renault field took to the streets of Monaco to set the grid order for tomorrow's 25-lap charge round the principality. Kerr, with one previous start on the 2.075-mile street circuit, set his fastest lap of 1m27.457s on his last tour before the checkered flag signalled the end of Group A qualifying.
The session proved eventful with numerous waved yellows, oil on the track by the swimming pool complex and the usual issue of traffic. Robbie's time placed him seventh in the session and 13th on the grid following Group B's qualifying run. Prema Power Team's Christian Montanari, the defending race champion, claimed pole position today with a lap time of 1m25.390s.
Robbie Kerr - #5 Team KTR: "It was frustrating out there as you'd be warned by the yellow flags but you'd get to where the incident was meant to have happened and they'd have cleared it. It was the same for everyone though and I just concentrated on trying to get a mistake free lap in. I'd have liked one more lap as my last lap was my quickest but the session ended. "We've made a few changes to the car following qualifying. We decided to do something a bit different and if it works, great, but if it doesn't we're not going to be any worse off. Hopefully the changes will allow us to run closer to the competition and overtake a few cars during the race for a decent finish."
Robbie currently sits 12th in the World Series by Renault Driver Standings, with four points, following his seventh place debut finish in Zolder, Belgium last month.
