The Sweden driver Alx Danielsson (DAMS) has topped the list of times of the first day of collective test in the Circuit Paul Ricard HTTT, where the World Series by Renault Teams are preparing the 2005 Season.
The World Series by Renault Teams run the 2004 chassis as they will get the first FR 3.5 unit at the end of the month. Most of the teams present in Paul Ricard are already working with their confirmed drivers, but some others are in the middle of an evaluation process.
The last confirmation came from the Team Jenzer Motorsport. They have signed the French Formula Renault champion Patrick Pilet. With this announcement the Swiss Team has completed his 2005 line-up, alongside the USA driver Colin Fleming.
The first day of testing has been sunny and the Mistral only blow during the late hours of the afternoon, what has made the journey quite easy for the drivers. Nevertheless, the maximum air temperature was never higher than 8C Celsius.
Alx Danielsson (1.17.090) was the fastest driver today, completing 69 laps. The Sweden driver even beat the best time of a WS car in this Circuit (Kubica, 1.17.394, in December 2004): "The Team has rented the Dallara-Nissan on purpose for this test so we start the day from 0. We spend a lot of time with the set-up so I just had 30 laps in the afternoon where I can really profit. It's the first time I drive such a powerful car and DAMS is the most professional team I have ever work with. I'm delighted to have signed with them and I'm really confident for the Season.". Pastor Maldonado will test tomorrow with the Team.
Will Power was testing with Carlin Motorsport and was in command of the World Series drivers after the morning session. The Australian driver will continue to test wit the Team in Barcelona, as tomorrow Alex Zuber, the only confirmed driver in the British outfit, will be on duty.
Saulnier Racing finished the day with his driver, Simon Pageneud, in third position. The Runner-up in the Eurocup Formula Renault 2000 has impressed very much in his first ever test in Paul Ricard: "I did not know the track, neither the car, but I have enjoyed a lot. There are a lot of good drivers here so I'm mre than happy to see myself in the top three positions".
