After a quite busy season 2006 which came to an end in Barcelona last October 28th, the World Series by Renault FR 3.5 started yesterday its winter tests on the Paul Ricard HTTT. The best drivers of the different Renault formulas tested for two days the FR 3.5 on the Paul Ricard HTTT.

To start the World Series winter tests, Renault Sport gathered the 15 best drivers of the different Formula Renault 1.6, FR Renault 2.0, Formula V6 Asia by Renault and Mégane Trophy series at the Paul Ricard HTTT, on the 3C track solution (3.841 km). The young champions could show their best and their true determination towards team managers to try to get a drive in the FR 3.5 Serie for the next season.

Amongst the forty drivers, some discovered the Paul Ricard High tech Test Track and all agreed to the fact that this circuit is not only very secure but also great to drive with pleasure, as Mexican Hugo Oliveras (EuroInternational) who recognized the true advantage of the asphalt run-offs in case of an off track.

During this test session, Ben Hanley set the overall best lap time in 01:15.266 for Comtec Racing. Renault Driver Development participant, the young British completed a FR 3.5 Serie season in 2006 with Cram Competition, and made his debuts in GP2 Series last week during collective official tests at the Paul Ricard HTTT.
