New Spanish race track Motorland in Aragon will host the opening event of 2010 World Series by Renault and this circuit also hosted the final collective testing before the season gets underway. Both P1 Motorsport's rookie drivers showed good form during both testing days. Friday morning Walter Grubmuller Jr climbed into third position in the first session, while Jan Charouz took second in second session on Friday afternoon.
Jan and Walter shown their potential also on Saturday, when all teams tested light aero setup with low downforce. On old tyres they were really fast again. In the afternoon Grubmuller Jr. achieved fifth fastest time on new tyres, but his best time was deleted due to underweight. Nevertheless, in strong competiton of many experienced formula drivers both P1 Motorsport's drivers were classified in Top 10 again. Achieved results are encouraging for team and both drivers and P1 Motorsport is really looking forward for the real racing action. World Series by Renault will be back at Motorland Aragon in just three weeks for the opening event of the season.
Jan Charouz, P1 Motorsport driver: "I think, this has been another good testing for us. On Friday we were really fast and on Saturday we were again fast on old tyres. I made small mistake in my fast lap on new tyres, so I improved my lap time just by two tenths. But overall it was good testing for us and I am looking for the first event of the season."
Walter Grubmuller Jr, P1 Motorsport driver: "The collective testing at Motorland was really good from my point of view. Whole team worked very well and we achieved good lap times. We did a lot of work on the setup. Unfortunatelly, my fastest time on Saturday afternoon was deleted, nevertheless I am satisfied with my progress. Motorland racing track is really interesting and I like it. I am really motivated for the first race, that will host this circuit."
Roly Vincini, P1 Motorsport chief: "We had another good test, with both cars on the pace which is great. Both Walter (Grubmuller) and Jan (Charouz) ran fantastically on old tyres, and are continuing to make good progress. Walter (Grubmuller) was officially fifth quickest, however his best time was deleted as we were found to be running underweight. We calculated we would be right on the limit and we were - so it's great to confirm the data and know where we are going into the beginning of the season."
