Kerr set for 'Italian Job'

London, England (July 10, 2006) -- Robbie Kerr heads to Italy this week hoping that the fourth round of the 2006 World Series by Renault, hosted at the Misano Circuit 15th-16th July, will be kinder to him than last month's double-header outing in Turkey where he failed to score for the first time this season.

Picking up points scoring finishes in Belgium and Monaco to kick-start the year, Kerr, racing for the Belgian KTR squad, was a victim of two separate accidents last time out at Istanbul Park leaving the Turkish track empty-handed having arrived there sitting in the top-ten from a thirty-strong international field. Putting a disastrous weekend behind him the former British F3 Champion travels to Misano looking to get his 2006 campaign back on-track.

For the third time in four World Series by Renault starts this season Robbie's faced with the challenge of learning another new circuit, this time the 4.06km layout of the Misano Circuit just outside Rimini.

Running anti-clockwise, Kerr's first opportunity to sample the track comes on Thursday morning in the first of two days testing leading into the weekend's action.

Previewing his forthcoming Italian job Robbie commented: "I keen to get going in Italy! It's another circuit that's new to me but I'm looking forward to getting out there and taking it in. I've spoken to a few people who've raced there before and I gather it's quite a tight, narrow circuit making qualifying all the more important once again. We've seen already just how crucial it is to make a good start in these races and the higher up the grid you are the better your chances of a clean get-away!

"We couldn't control the circumstances in the last two races and I was just unlucky to be taken out on both occasions. The pace was there in the car but we were cut short. I think we're all desperate to knuckle down and see what we can do in Italy. I spent some time with the KTR guys last week and I know how hungry they are to succeed this weekend."

Robbie currently sits joint 16th in the World Series by Renault Driver Standings with a total of eight points. The weekend's schedule of events kicks off on Thursday with a pair of two-hour test sessions before two more 45-minute sessions on Friday. Race 1 (21 laps) starts on Saturday, 15th July, at 3:30pm CET followed by Race 2 (29 laps) on Sunday, 16th July, at 1pm CET.
