CHAOS AT THE HUNGARORING

Pippa Mann battled through chaos at the Hungaroring to take a credible 15th position, in the most incident-filled race of the 2008 Formula Renault 3.5 season. With three safety car periods and plenty of DNFs, Mann drove a solid race to avoid retirement despite a spin for the P1 Motorsport driver herself.

Having made a fantastic start off the line from 21st, Mann kept her cool and by the end of the first lap was in 18th position. Climbing up into 16h position at the end of lap two, Mann sat comfortably until a spin coming into the final corner on lap seven saw the young Brit lose valuable track position.

Now lying in 23rd place, Mann had it all to do, but determined as ever she kept her focus and slowly started moving back through the order. Avoiding yet more carnage ahead, Mann snatched 15th position with just a couple of laps remaining. Behind her, KTR's Dannii Move was unable to make an impression on the P1 Motorsport car, and Mann crossed the line to take 15th place.

Commenting on her afternoon, Mann said: "We experienced pretty severe oversteer on the car and unfortunately the handling was affected and I lost control a couple of times. It's unusual for me to do that under race conditions so I'm frustrated with the situation, but I did my best and hopefully we can have a look at the data and see if we can make some improvements for tomorrow."

Mann will start Race Two from 20th position, alongside Claudio Cantelli (RC Motorsport).
