The fastest 2-liter single-seater of the World.
Barcelona, Tuesday 11th February 2003 -- The first real pictures from the all-new single-seater Dallara Light 01 not only shows the effectiveness and versatility of the Italian engineering but the determination from RPM Racing in the consolidation of the World Series global project.
Strategically, 2003 was not a good year to start an all-new single-seater. The economical crisis is evident, and the confusion all over Europe in terms of single-seaters is more than obvious.
Nevertheless, RPM Racing has decided to consolidate its World Series three-category project: (World Series by Nissan, World Series Light and Campeonato de España de Fórmula Junior 1600) with the substitution of the veteran Coloni-Nissan by a new single-seater. This new formula is called to be the fastest 2-liter single-seater of the World.
A new concept under a known theme in the World Series: less cost, optimal performances
This car will be using an AER engine created specifically for competition (any parts or components of this unit comes from a car make) offering a power of 250 HP at 8.000 rpm, and it could be developed to reach 300 HP.
In terms of aerodynamics, Dallara has done an excellent work in the Wind Tunnel. The new car has a downforce of more than 1.000 Kg, thanks to the expert work of Dallara Automobili in the development of ground effect single-seaters.
To understand the stance of the new Dallara Light 01, any comparison with its 2-liter homonymous the different F3 Series and the rest of the one-make formulas with this cylinder capacity.
In line with the F3000
The new Dallara Light 01 is expected to be 4 or 5 seconds faster than the former Coloni Nissan CN1/C. Even more, 1'5 and 2 seconds faster than the first version from the Coloni Nissan equipped with the 250 HP engine. Therefore, its performances will be lined-up with the best F3000 registers.
The World Series Light are addressed exclusively to consecrated drivers in the different F3 International championships, that paradoxically, may benefit from extremely high performances at very capped costs, in reference to the different European F3 Series.
In resume, this is another step forward in the line of work of RPM Racing, since it started in 1998 the Formula Nissan saga. More performance at capped cost.
