Luciano Burti drives the World Series Car
World Series by Nissan impresses the best international drivers.
Ander Vilariño (Epsilon-Euskadi) tops the list of times
The heavy weather conditions ruined the first official test of the World Series cars in Barcelona, but the drivers still appreciated the new engine version, powered with 450 Hp.
Luciano Burti was behind the wheel again, testing for the Spanish-based squad managed by Adrian Campos. At the end of the day he wasn't really toping the list of times, but even though, he was quite impressed with the level of this Series: " I still have some offers outside but this Series looks really good. The car is very nice. But the weather conditions are not the best to get used to this car. Jean Francois Sinteff, the new Technical Director, was mostly positive: "We have scanned all type of set ups. We worked in some different areas. I'm pleased to work with Luciano".
Ander Vilariño (1.55.986) topped the list of times. The Epsilon-Euskadi driver is very happy with the new sporting project, which is under the assessment of Joan Viladelprat: "I met Viladelprat in the year 2000, when I was in France. Two years later Prost disappeared. For me, Joan is a referent."
Top team Gabord Competicion completed its first test day with its new drivers, Franck Montagny, (current test driver in RenaultF1) and Heikki Kovalainen. They have also unveiled the new colours of their cars: yellow! Montagny, second best timed lap, aims a new championship victory: "I'm here to win the Driver's Title and also the Team's one I've have the best Team." Kovalainen lapped fifth making a good debut in the World Series: "In Finland, everybody hopes that I will be the next driver to enter F-1. But I still have to learn. I come from the F3 Series, and it is a big step to be there".
Narain Kartikheyan (Carlin Motorsport) has confirmed he's well fit achieving the fourth best register of the day. Trevor Carlin has confirmed today that Bruce Jouanny will be driving his second car. The Frenchman will test tomorrow.
Pantano, current F3000 International Champion, has been sixth. Giorgio Pantano was testing for GD Racing. Enrique Bernoldi was testing with RC Motorsport. He was one of the few drivers to improve his time during the afternoon's session. <pre> 10 TOP TIMES 1. Ander Vilariño (SPA) Epsilon Euskadi 1.55.986 2.
