Bruno Bonifacio will be the second Draco driver for the 2015 World Series Renault 3.5 season. The 20-year-old racer from Sao Paulo already entered the Jerez and Alcaniz postseason tests with Draco, showcasing his skills and convincing Team Principal Guto Negrao for the 2015 campaign.
Draco will be entering the 9-round Renault 3.5 season with an all-Brazilian line-up. Bonifacio will pair the already-announced 23-year-old from Curitiba Pietro Fantin.
Bruno is joining the WSR 3.5 after four seasons in the developmental open-wheel ladder. In 2011, he won his country's national Formula 3 series, Light class, at the first try. Then he moved to Europe, running in the Italian Formula Abarth series and ending up in third place. He also scored third place in the 2013 Formula Renault ALPS, while last year he fought for the Eurocup Renault 2.0 title before taking fifth place.
Guto Negrao – Team Principal: "I have been following Bruno's career for many years and I always appreciated his skills. Now that he has matured considerably, I am delighted to field him in my team in an highly-competitive and top-quality series like the Renault 3.5. Lining-up alongside his experienced countryman Pietro Fantin, at his third season in the series, Bonifacio will be able to improve even further by relying on a valuable benchmark. We will field an all-Brazilian line-up for the first time and I am particularly proud of it. Being able to help drivers from my country is an huge satisfaction. Now we have to collect the results we expect, and raise our flag on the podiums of as many racetracks as possible".
Bruno Bonifacio: "It is impossible to imagine how happy I am for having secured a ride with Draco for the Renault 3.5 series. I have never had any doubt that this was going to be the team and series for me this season and I did my utmost to make it. After the tests held at Jerez and Alcaniz, my firm belief in the abilities of the guys managed by Guto Negrao received further confirmations. After a winter of hard training in Brazil, I am ready for this new and demanding challenge. I hope to reward the team for the trust they put in me".
