Zeta Corse endured a two-faced Saturday in Paul Ricard. After a good start of the day, with a Qualifying session that saw both the cars lined-up by the team find a place in the top ten with Will Buller and Carlos Sainz in 5th and 9th place respectively, Race 1 didn’t live up to the team’s expectations.

In the early laps the two youngsters raced neck and neck in 8th and 9th place, but before mid race Sainz upped his pace due to improved track grip and passed Buller, then taking P7 too with a great outside move on Pic. Carlos seemed ready to grab a deserved 7th place finish but on last lap, just a few kilometers from the finish line, he had to park his car trackside due to a front-right suspension issue.

Buller, in the meantime, was involved in a fierce fight with Amberg that saw him resist to some huge pressure from the rival, finishing 9th and bagging two championship points.

Carlos Sainz (Q1 - P9; R1 - P17):
"In the first few laps the car was sliding around a lot, but then we suddenly found grip and my pace got better and better. It was a fun race because I was able to push hard and pass other cars, but with around six laps to go I started feeling a strange vibration from the front right suspension. Unluckily it got worse lap after lap, and I had to stop on track not to damage the car".

Will Buller (Q1 - P5; R1 - P9
): "To close in the top ten isn't too bad, but compared to our P5 in Qualifying it can't make us happy. Track conditions were very different from this morning to the afternoon, and probably we didn't get something right. Even my start wasn't too good as I had a lot of wheelspin, and that sure didn't help".
