Troy misses Brno tests
Troy Corser has been forced to sit out the Pirelli/FG Sport tests at Brno this week because he has contracted chickenpox. He got the disease from one of his children and although he could've still taken part in the tests he decided to stay at home instead of going to Brno and possibly infecting any of his team members or anybody else in the paddock.
Chickenpox normally occurs in childhood and usually infects up to 90% of all those who come in contact with the disease if they have never had it before, so Troy's decision to stay at home was taken as a precaution. The burden of the three-day test now falls on the shoulders of Troy's team mate Yukio Kagayama and, with a possible twenty-fours track time available, the Japanese rider knows he is in for a long haul.
YUKIO STARTS THE BIG JOB ALONE
With Team Alstare Suzuki Corona Extra rider Troy Corser sidelined with chickenpox, Yukio Kagayama has to do all the work at the midseason tests at Brno. Today, Yukio started testing a new clutch, a few exhausts and also some different mapping to improve the bike^Rs throttle response. Because of the large number of different things to try, Yukio did not go searching lap times and so it was no surprise that he was only the ninth fastest at the end of the day. Series leader Troy Bayliss (Ducati) ended the day^Rs quickest rider, ahead of Chris Walker (Kawasaki) and Karl Muggeridge (Honda).
YUKIO It was very hot today and although the track felt dirty, the grip level was quite good. With Troy-san missing, there is much work to do and many different things to try. Today, I tried some different exhausts and a new clutch. Also, we tried a different mapping setting to see if we can make the throttle feeling more linear. I mostly went out and only did a few laps each time today, so I was not able to try any of the new tyres or go for a quick lap. I must be patient, do as much good work as possible and then maybe go for a fast time towards the end of the test. Also, at the end of the day, my hand is a bit sore, so I must keep in as good condition as possible so that I can carry out all the work we need to do.
