GOOD PODIUM FOR BARRIER AT HIS HOME RACE
Sylvain Barrier and the Garnier Racing Team Junior finished brilliantly the 2010 season with a good podium at Magny-Cours in Burgundy where the team is based. Randy Pagaud finished 17th.
On Sunday morning, Sylvain Barrier was the fastest rider of the Superstock 1000 warm up session with a time of 1'42.549. At the start of the race, Maxime Berger was the fastest in front of Ayrton Badovini, Sylvain Barrier, Davide Giugliano and Loris Baz. Randy Pagaud was in 17th position.
At the end of the first lap, Maxime Berger was leading, but Sylvain Barrier was in second position in front of Ayrton Badovini. After 7 laps, which means half distance, Berger was 1.3 in front of Badovini and 3.1 in front of Berger.
Maxime Berger was alone by the end of the event and he won a magnificent race, the first one for him this year. Ayrton Badovini second was trying to win his 10th victory out of 10 races this year, but he couldn't do it and had to settle for the second position. Nevertheless, his new record of 9 victories will be hard to beat. Sylvain Barrier displayed a lot of talent and determination this weekend. This is the second time this year after Valencia that he is on the podium.
Randy Pagaud, for only his second Superstock 1000 race, did a very good job at Magny-Cours, like he did also at Imola the week before.
Thank you very much to all the members of the team for this nice 2010 season. And thank you to all the friends, partners and sponsors who made this great year possible for the Garnier Racing Team Junior.
Michel Garnier (team owner): "Sylvain didn't have a great start but he was quickly with Maxime Berger, and then Badovini passed him. He rode safely to third position, without taking to many chances. This podium is important, with two French riders. I am happy, this is well deserved. Congratulations to Maxime for his victory, to Badovini for whom it was not easy, and to Sylvain for his third place. Randy confirms his good learning experience. He lost contact with his group, but 17th is a nice result. It's only his second race on a 1000cc bike, which is a powerful machine. This weekend has been positive and I am very happy. Thank you to all our friends and sponsors who give us a great support that I appreciate a lot."
Sylvain Barrier: "My start was not wonderful, but still he was better than usual. I could follow the rhythm. Then I lost grip with the rear tyre and I had to play it safe. I was careful not to crash. It's nice to finish in third position here. Thank you to the team."
Randy Pagaud: "I had a good start and I gained two positions. I was with a good group. But I made a small mistake during the third lap and I lost the contact with the group. It's too bad I made this mistake, otherwise I think I could have scored some points."
