Superb double win for Yamaha

Noriyuki Haga did a great performance at the Nurburgring where he won both races with an impressive style on his Yamaha R1. His teammate Troy Corser did also a very good job and completed the overall result for the Japanese manufacturer with a brilliant second position in the second race behind Haga. Nakatomi finished two times 18th.

Despite a collarbone that was broken two weeks ago in the USA, Haga won superbly both races, including the second one that was stopped because of the rain, when he was fighting with his teammate Corser. This good result is the opportunity for Haga to get closer to the World Championship leader Troy Bayliss.

Shinichi Nakatomi was not very lucky: In the first race, at the end of the first lap, he was 18th, 5 seconds behind the leader. But he made a small mistake and was 25th at 15 seconds after lap 2. After that, he finished 18th, like in race 2 when the event was red flagged because of the rain.

Shinichi Nakatomi: "I made a little mistake in the beginning of the first race and when I rejoined I was last. The first 10 laps of the second race were difficult, but after that I had a better feeling, and then the race was stopped because it rained."

Team-manager Martial Garcia: "We found a good set up during the warm up session, only 1.5 seconds behind the fastest time. This meant that we were competitive regarding the race conditions. But there was this race incident in the first event and the rain in the second race. I cannot say that I am satisfied because we have only a total of 16 points. But it is true that the level of the opposition is very high."
