Team Alstare Suzuki Corona Extra rider Javi Fores experienced set-up problems today and ended with the ninth fastest time in qualifying. He should've improved his time in the afternoon session but an off-track excursion (when he lost five minutes due to an over-zealous marshal) caused him to lose the chance of setting a quick time in the closing five minutes. Michel Fabrizio (Honda) took pole position, ahead of Kevin Curtain (Yamaha), Fabien Foret (Honda) and Broc Parkes (Yamaha).

Nothing seemed to right for me today and I had problems with the settings
for most of the time. I also tried different tyres, but did not find any
good solutions. In the afternoon I made a mistake and went straight on
at a corner and then into the gravel. I tried to rejoin the track, but a
marshal held me up and I lost a lot of time. By the time I got back to
the pits, there were less then five minutes of final qualifying remaining
and I could not put in a faster lap. Once again, I am going to need a
good start if I am to have a good result, but that's what I'll be
chasing.
