Second row for Javi on opening day.

Team Alstare Suzuki Corona Extra rider Javi Fores ended the first day of qualifying with a solid second row grid place and is looking for further improvement tomorrow. His time of 1:54.397 was just about a second off second-placed Kevin Curtain (Yamaha) today, so the battle for a place on the first two rows is going to be a tough one. Sebastien Charpentier (Honda) once again dominated proceedings today and his lap of 1:51.788 was a massive one and a half seconds quicker then his nearest challenger. Curtain is second fastest, with Gianluca Nannelli (Ducati) third and Michel Fabrizio (Honda) fourth.

JAVI - 8th, 1:54.397
I really like this track. It is exciting and enjoyable to ride. The surface looks a bit old in some places, but I am having fun. It was damp in the morning and then dry in the afternoon, so we had to start from zero in the second session really. We made quite a few changes and everything worked pretty well, except for a little front fork problem. Today I was using an 'old' engine, but tomorrow I will have a fresh one, so I should be able to go faster. At the moment, I am having a bit of trouble in the last split and I haven't found the best line through the Rivazza. If I can sort those parts out, I can improve my time and position considerably.
