Ducati unveils bike for 2016 WSBK title assault

Factory Ducati team Aruba.it Racing has revealed the Panigale R machinery it will contest the 2016 World Superbike season with.

After having departed the series in 2010, the Italian manufacturer re-entered the championship in 2014 with Chaz Davies and Davide Giugliano - and it will continue with that line-up for the third straight season this year.

Welsh rider Davies enjoyed the best season of his career in 2015, securing runner-up behind the runaway champion Jonathan Rea, scoring four victories and 18 podiums.

Giugliano, on the other hand, was forced to miss both the first and the final four rounds of the season due to injuries.

However, he showcased strong pace by taking two poles in five events and collecting three podiums to end up as the top part-timer in 11th.

The team's duo completed a strong two days of testing at Jerez, going second and third fastest, only outpaced by Kawasaki’s Tom Sykes - whose Japanese employer will unveil its 2016 bike on Thursday.
