2005 Supersport World Championship
Round 7, Brno, CZ
Friday qualifying, 15th July
Circuit: 5.403 kms. Weather: dry, sunny 26-30 C.
Super seven on day one for Javi.
Team Alstare Suzuki Corona Extra rider Javi Fores ended the first day of qualifying at Brno in seventh position and is happy! He is happy because he loves the design and layout of the 5.403 kilometre track and because he has been able to learn it quickly. Now Javi is looking to improve on his lap times tomorrow and maintain his position on the front two rows of the grid. Provisional pole was set by Sebastien Charpentier (Honda) - no surprise there, but the Frenchman had to work hard for it, as the morning session had been dominated by the Yamaha duo of Kevin Curtain and Broc Parkes. In the afternoon timed session though, Charpentier showed why he is the series leader with a lap of 2:07.489, less then a tenth of a second ahead of Curtain. Third is Parkes, with Fabien Foret (Honda) completing the provisional front row of the grid.
JAVI - 7th, 2:08.789 "I am happy today, not because I am seventh, but because I really like this track. This is my first time here - like most of us - and I got on with it straight away. The bike is working very well here and it is not too far from the right set-up. Tomorrow we will work with the rear suspension to see if we make make the balance of the bike better. Today we were using an old engine, but tomorrow we will have a fresh engine and I am hoping to improve or, at the very least, maintain my second row place on the grid."
