Benelli Sport struggled in qualifying today at Assen, ending the final session down in 20th.
"During the final qualifying session we struggled with set up and hadn't really managed to sort out some good settings," explained Peter. "We managed to get a better set up later in the day, for pre-Superpole free practice, but by then it was too late."
Now Peter is faced with the unenviable task of starting two World Championship Superbike races from the back of the fifth row.
"I'll do my best in the races and try to get a good start as overtaking isn't easy at Assen," said Goddard.
Honda's Colin Edwards is on pole for Sunday's two races, despite running off the track during Superpole. Ruben Xaus is second and Troy Bayliss is third, with Britain's Neil Hodgson taking the final front row spot.
