Petter and Chris started the final day of Rally France in third position overall, a position they held since day two after losing time due to a slow front right puncture. They had finished the first day of Rally France in second place overall behind Mini’s Dani Sordo and set a total of three fastest stage times over the course of the Rally. A small spin on the second stage of the morning, SS19 lost them over 20 seconds but their third place remained secure.

In fact, the top three of Ogier, Sordo and Petter maintained their overall positions from start to finish on the final day, which ended with the Power Stage through the streets of Haguenau, the hometown of Championship leader Sebastien Loeb. Ford’s Jari-Matti Latvala claimed his first victory on the Power Stage taking the maximum three bonus points, followed by Sordo then Ogier. The points from Rally France make the Driver’s Championship a much closer race. With Sebastien Loeb’s retirement on day one meaning he receives no points from this rally, his closest rivals, team mate Sebastien Ogier and Ford’s Mikko Hirvonen have been able to close the gap to the Championship Lead with only two more events to go this season.

- It’s been fantastic this weekend, says Petter Solberg. – I have enjoyed driving so much, the feeling when everything is perfect is just unbelievable. The car has been absolutely perfect all weekend, it’s so quick! I am really happy about the third place, but I must admit that at the moment having the speed and fighting with the manufacturers is almost better. A big thank you to everyone in my team, and all my sponsors! Next up is Spain!

Sebastien Ogier is the winner of Rallye de France Alsace with Dani Sordo in second place and Petter and Chris on the podium in third overall.

The next event is Rally of Spain 20th – 23rd October 2011

Editor's note:
After the event ended, the FIA officials excluded Solberg from the Rallye de France after having found the team's Citroen to be under the minimum required weight.
