The driver from Bahia debuted in asphalt in a WRC event
The ADAC Deutschland Rally is the most beautiful event contested on asphalt of the three events included in the 2011 WRC calendar, but also the more complicated as the variety of the surface to which the pilots face on German special stages convert it into almost three rallies, very different one from each other.
Daniel Oliveira and Carlos Magalhaes had to overcome yesterday's special stages in the hills of the Mosel River valley, characterized by long straights and 180 degrees junctions with steep slopes ending in the 25th position.
BWRT Brazil driver suffered an incident in the first one, Ruwertal-Fell, losing about minute and a half against their most direct rivals, but he did not lost his nerve to take his MINI John Cooper Works WRC to BWRT assistance. Daniel also face the rain that fall in the second stage which surprised almost all the drivers with the hard compound of the Michelin tires fitted in their cars, the more inappropriate for that situation.
Daniel's word:
"It was a difficult day because in the first part of the morning I had a little off and I damaged the car a little bit, but at the end there were only cosmetic damages. Later in the evening we had a problem as when cutting a curve at the end of the first SS we damage the exhaust of our MINI John Cooper Works WRC. From that moment the engine started to misfire and even it stopped a couple of times. Tomorrow hopefully will be a quiet day with no mistakes to keep learning. "
The second leg:
Saturday is the hardest and longest day in Germany with a total of eight special tests that make up the mileage to 150.14 km. It includes the famous 'Panzerplatte' test, 34.18 km, one third shorter than last year which takes place in Baumholder, a former American military base.
On the top.
Frenchman Sebastien Loeb (Citroen DS3 WRC) is the leader with 7.4s ahead of his teammate and countryman Sebastien Ogier. The second stage stars at 7:10 (local time). The first MINI driver is Spanish Dani Sordo in fourth place.
