New Zealand - Martin Prokop holds third position also after Leg 2
Martin Prokop and his co-driver Jan Tomanek with Ford Fiesta S2000 won one special stage in S-WRC standings during the Leg 2 of Rally New Zealand and they will start closing day of the rally from 3rd position.
The rally's second day features 155 competitive kilometres arranged over eight special stages. The second day of Rally New Zealand takes competitors south-west of Auckland to the Franklin and northern Waikato areas and to stages last used in 2008. All the country stages are mixed surface - gravel and asphalt - and the day also includes two all- asphalt tests at the Hampton Downs motor racing circuit.
Czech Ford National Team's crew started Leg 2 from 3rd position in S-WRC standings. Martin and Jan defended their position during the whole day and moreover they won SS11 Baker 1 (22.56kms). Czech driver scored regularly times in Top 4 of S-WRC drivers and he will start third leg of the rally with the hope of gaining third podium in his third rally this year.
Martin Prokop, Czech Ford National Team's driver: ,,The day has been very good for us even though we had to stop because of the dust. But the time we lost yesterday meant it has not been possible to fight for the victory today. I am happy, that our team had recognized and solved the problem, that we had on Friday. Today was our car great. "
The Rally New Zealand continues tomorrow with Leg 3. The first of four Sunday's stages starts already today (Saturday, May 8) at 10:38 pm CET. The last special stage of the rally begins at 1:24 am CET (Sunday, May 9).
