Carlos Sainz, current leader in the 1995 world rally championship, will not start in the Rally of New Zealand (round 5, July 27-30). The former world champion has not yet made a full recovery from shoulder injuries received in a mountainbike fall. His place in the Subaru factory team will be taken by English driver Richard Burns. The Subaru team also includes Scot Colin McRae, winner in NZ for the last two years, and New Zealander Possum Bourne. The Rally of NZ also has full factory entries from Toyota, Ford and Mitsubishi.
