OMV Kronos Citroen WRT happy about problem-free second day

*Manfred Stohl and Ilka Minor see Gardemeister within reach
*Loeb only 55 kilometres short of third victory in Sardinia

After twelve of 18 special stages of the "Rally d'Italia Sardegna" the OMV Kronos Citroen World Rally Team not only secured eighth place but also has chances for seventh place. They are only 23,3 seconds behind Toni Gardemeister (Fin/Mitsubishi Lancer WRC). Now the 34-year-old Austrian plans to attack once more on the final day.

I am here to fight

The afternoon of the second day of the Rally Sardinia has raised the hopes of Manfred Stohl. The OMV driver managed to reduce the distance to Toni Gardemeister, who still lies in seventh place, from 32,7 to 23,3 seconds. And he plans to catch up the rest on Sunday. Stohl: "It will surely be very hard since Toni has been around long enough and knows how to drive fast. But if our Citroen Xsara WRC continues to perform this problem-free I see an opportunity. I will attack right on Sunday morning, in any case. Each second I come closer puts him more and more under pressure."

Loeb close to 33rd WRC-victory

Sebastien Loeb (Fra/Citroen C4 WRC) completes the special stages of the Rally d'Italia Sardegna like a clockwork. Last year's winner controls the whole field and lies 36,5 seconds ahead of Markus Gronholm (Fin/Ford Focus WRC) and 1:30, 2 minutes in front of the latter's countryman and teammate Mikko Hirvonen after the second day. Therefore the 33rd victory in the FIA World Rally Championship and the third one in Sardinia for the Alsatian seems like a sure bet.

Outlook on Sunday The third leg of the Rally d'Italia Sardegna leads the drivers over 54,74 timed kilometres on Sunday. Like on the two preceding days six special stages are scheduled. The restart in Olbia will take place at 7.00. The finish line of the seventh run to the FIA World Rally Championship 2007 will be crossed at 14.30 in Porto Cervo.
