QUOTES AFTER SS10
Marcus Gronholm: "I had no real problems on that stage - the only thing was that I had a soft pedal for the last 15 kilometres. I think that's quite normal for a stage that is this long though. Towards the end of the stage I took it quite carefully, in order to make sure I made the finish OK. I am quite happy."
Richard Burns: "This stage is enjoyable but also a real challenge. Towards the end of the stage my tyres were worn out but I'm reasonably happy with my time. Because this stage is so long it's always about a compromise between speed and maintaining the performance of the tyres. We're just a few seconds behind Markko now so my next target is to pass him."
Harri Rovanpera: "Not so good, but not a catastrophe either. I think I chose the wrong tyres: a more open cut would have been more suitable for the damp conditions in the last 20 kilometres. Other than that the car was perfect: it was just a question of concentrating hard all the time. We're still attacking."
QUOTES AFTER SS12
Marcus Gronholm: "Everything is fine. I'm still pushing quite hard as Markko Martin has been doing good times, so I need to keep an eye on him. On stage 12 I had another small problem with the brakes, but it was nothing serious. For the time being, a lead of one minute is comfortable. I'm going at the same speed as yesterday, but without taking any risks. I'm just driving normally."
Richard Burns: "I'm happy with the way I'm driving. For the most part, those two stages were entirely dry although with some damp corners. That doesn't make much difference, as there is about the same level of grip in the damp as there is on the dry. I had a bit of a problem with the brakes: on some corners I had to pump them a couple of times to make sure they were effective. Markko is setting some good times so we need to try hard."
Harri Rovanpera: "Everything is good now. We've got plenty of grip and the tyre choice has been correct. New Zealand is such a nice rally: I really enjoy driving these stages. I'm very happy to have made up a place and we will keep on going hard this afternoon. No problems at all with the car - it feels fantastic."
