Horsey takes top ten in Finland

Mombasa born Peter Horsey, the African Pirelli Star Drive recipient, scored points on his debut in the Production Car World Rally Championship division when he and Welsh co-driver, Calvin Cooledge, brought their Pirelli Mitsubishi Evo X to the end of Rally Finland 40th overall and ninth amongst the PWRC registered crews!

The 2010 Neste Oil Rally Finland was Peter's third World Rally Championship event in the Ralliart Italy Mitsubishi Evo X but this was the first time the young Kenyan had gone head to head with the PWRC regulars. After having the honour of opening the rally by running first on the road on Thursday night Peter and Calvin soon had a wake up call when they had a minor off road excursion on the first corner of Friday's opening stage! However this was to be the only drama for the pair all event long and as their confidence grew so did the pace, with Peter enjoying a final day battle with fellow Pirelli star driver Nicholai Georgiou as the pair traded times over the fast and flowing stages that have made Finland so famous!

This event has been amazing! It is by far the best rally I have ever tackled and the thrill of driving over those blind crests as fast as I could will stay with me for a very long time! Definitely our recent test in Estonia has helped a lot and Calvin and I are working well together. I am really pleased to have scored points on my PWRC debut!

Peter now faces the next lesson in a steep learning curve as he has two weeks to learn all about rallying on tarmac before he faces his fourth World Rally Championship event, WRC Deutschland! Coming from Africa Peter has no experience of driving on the black stuff and intends to conduct a test session before he heads to Trier in Germany in less than a fortnight's time!
