The first day here in Germany is completed, and it has been a day with both ups and downs for the Petter Solberg World Rally Team. The day started with a deflated tyre, and ended with another puncture. They lost over 2 minutes when they had to stop and change the rear right tyre on SS1, but managed to get some of the time loss back with some good times on the next stages. Even a stagewin on SS4. But on the final stage of the day, another puncture caused them valuable time and dropped them down to 9. place.

- It's not been the best day today, says Petter Solberg. - That puncture on the first stage cost us lot of time, and then again we lost time when we hade to change the wheel again on the final stage after we touched a bank. That last one was my own fault, as we came wide in corner. We were 2 seconds faster than Loeb when it happened, so apart from the punctures, I think we have proved that we have the speed with this awesome car!

Sebastien Loeb leads the rally, 9,5 seconds ahead of his team-mate Dani Sordo. Jari-Matti Latvala is currently third, more than a minute adrift of the lead.

8 more stages to go tomorrow, with a total of 180 competitive kilometres. First car will be on the road from 0748hrs.
