OMV Kronos Citroen WRT within scoring ranks

Following a nearly work-free first day of the "Rally Argentina" the OMV Kronos Citroen World Rally Team completed all scheduled special stages on Saturday. Thereby Manfred Stohl and Ilka Minor secured their seventh overall place. The difficult road conditions demand full focus. The Austrian OMV duo nevertheless expects to move up one or more places during the final leg on Sunday.

Argentina shows its toughest side

The rainfalls around the rally centre Carlos Paz turn the sixth run to the FIA World Rally Championship into a true battle. The right conditions, actually, for Manfred Stohl who competes for the tenth time in South America. And even though the result may not mirror it the 34-year-old MOV driver is currently rather content with seventh place. Stohl: "One has to state clearly that we don't stand a chance against the straight works teams. The difference to the privateers is ever increasing. I could have competed here 50 times over - experience doesn't come into it anymore. On the other hand, we gave a good performance today. We still retain chances for fourth overall place and will do our all to reach this goal."

It could be an advantage for the OMV Kronos Citroen World Rally Team that the last leg on Sunday has to be extended in order to reach two thirds of the overall SS-kilometres. Only then will full WRC-points be awarded for this run. Currently it is considered to complete special stage "Mina Clavero" twice instead of just once. Stohl: "That sounds good. Last year we reached best-time on this stage. That would give us self-confidence and increase our chances to improve the result."
