Stuart kick starts world campaign

Top welsh rally driver Stuart Jones is set to make history when the 22 year old jets off to Mexico to join the other Production World Rally Championship contenders, as he begins his 2007 campaign.

Jones, together with regular co-driver and fellow welsh man Craig Parry, has made the step up from the British Rally Championship, where they regularly swapped times comparable with previous champions Gwyndaf Evans and Mark Higgins.

The team will be the first ever all welsh crew to compete in the PWRC when they leave the start ramp of Rally Mexico next week. Even though this represents a big step up in competition the friendly and yet professional attitude of SJR will remain with the team.

Stuart and Craig were convinced to make the move to the world scene after setting fastest stage times in Group N against some world class opposition on the 2006 Wales Rally GB, despite running with a less favourable road position.

We are really looking forward to the 2007 season. Having totally rebuilt my Mitsubishi Evo 9, I am now confident we can have a good run in Mexico where I aim to gain as much experience as possible. The step up to the PWRC would not have been possible without the support from Silverstone Tyres, PIAA, Teng Tools, R&D, JT Hughes, Rallytech and Delivered on Time.

Whilst Stuart admits that Mexico will be a whole new experience and that the PWRC presents a fresh challenge, he is confident that he should be close to the pace of his rivals as he focuses on a solid result.

Stuarts 2007 campaign visits the following countries, Mexico, Argentina, Greece, New Zealand, Ireland and ends with his home event, Wales Rally GB
