Argentina beckons Welsh rally team.

Welshpool based rally driver Stuart Jones is relishing his return to action as he and his family run SJR rally team prepare for the long journey to Argentina for the second round of Stuarts PWRC program.

Stuart, who is the only Welsh rally driver contesting the fiercely fought production world championship, endured a difficult opening round when minor mechanical problems robbed his Silverstone Tyres shod Mitsubishi Evo 9 of anti-lag for most of the event. This left the car down on power on an event where, due to the high elevation, every bit of power is needed. Despite this Stuart, who is co-driven by fellow Welshman Craig Parry, still set some quick times throughout the rally.

It has been a while since Rally Mexico and although I have been training really hard I haven't had the opportunity to test. Because we are a small family run team we don't have the budget of the big boys so every penny is saved up for the next rally. Even so I've been researching the problems we had in Mexico and hopefully this experience will benefit us in Argentina, which is a rally that I am really looking forward to.

22 year old Stuart has recently joined forces with the renowned British charity Cancer Research UK and will be promoting the cause throughout his campaign, which will see the young rally technician visit Argentina, New Zealand, Greece, Ireland and his home event, Wales Rally GB.
