Petter Solberg and Chris Patterson complete day two in fourth position overall.
Petter and Chris started day two in second position and, therefore, second on the road behind Sebastien Loeb. They finished the first stage 7.2 seconds ahead of the Citroën driver with Ford’s Jari-Matti Latvala setting a storming pace to take the fastest time on all three of the morning’s stages. A slow front-right puncture six kms into the next stage, SS10, lost twelve seconds for Petter and resulted in a drop to third overall by the end of SS11.
A small mistake on the first stage of the afternoon cost a couple of seconds but Petter and Chris still had the fourth fastest time. They complete the day in fourth position overall, third fastest on the final stage. Sebastien Loeb leads the rally, with Ford’s Mikko Hirvonen in second place. Loeb’s Citroën team-mate, Sebastien Ogier is currently third overall.
- A good start position for tomorrow, says Petter Solberg. – It’s been a really tough day and it has been a big attack. Lost 12 seconds on a puncture on stage 11. Also lost time on SS14, which I think is because I have not tested on that kind of surface. The car has worked perfectly all day, and I will get back on the podium tomorrow!
Rally d’Italia Sardegna continues with four stages on Sunday. The first car will be on the road from 0650 local time.
