Disappointment on the last stage after a great second day in Argentina.
Petter and Chris started day two in second position overall but a small spin on the first stage dropped them down a place. Second fastest through SS9, they then had a problem with dust entering the car on the last stage of the morning and the lunchtime service saw the team in third position behind leader Jari-Matti Latvala and second place Sebastien Ogier.
Citroen driver Ogier took the rally lead in the afternoon with his stage win on SS13 as Ford’s Jari-Matti slowed with a broken compression strut and was forced to retire on the next stage. Having climbed back up to second overall by the start of SS15, Petter and Chris were to suffer problems with their power-steering 2km into the stage and finished the day in fourth position. Ogier leads the rally with Ford’s Mikko Hirvonen now in second place ahead of Sebastien Loeb.
- Right now I’m just so disappointed, says Petter Solberg. – Everything has been going so well, and we have been on the pace for two days, and then 2 km into to the final stage of the day we lose the power steering and a lot of time. It will be fixed for tomorrow, and I will do my best on all the four stages trying to get some of the lost time back.
Rally Argentina continues with four stages on Sunday including the final Power Stage. The first car will be on the road from 0809 local time.
