Petter Solberg takes his 400th stage-win on day one of Rally Argentina.
The first day of Rally Argentina started well for the Petter Solberg World Rally Team with Petter and Chris setting second fastest times on all three of the morning stages, running used tyres on SS2 to preserve new tyres for the next two stages. Ford’s Jari-Matti Latvala was fastest through all three stages while Citroën driver Sebastien Loeb was given a one-minute time penalty for checking into the regroup early.
Petter celebrated his 400th stage-win on SS6 Mina Clavero 2 where he finished ahead of Sebastien Ogier and Jari-Matti Latvala. The day completes with Jari-Matti leading the Rally. Petter and Chris have held second position all day and are currently ahead of Sebastien Ogier who is third overall.
- I am really happy with today, says Petter Solberg. – The tarmac sections were quite tricky but we did great on the gravel. As long as everything stays like it is we will push hard tomorrow, I can promise you that. We have no strategy, we will just go! It is great being here, the stages are good, the atmosphere is unbelievable and there are just so many spectators out there.
- I Feel great about the 400th stage win, and I hope for many, many more to come!
Rally Argentina continues with eight stages on Saturday. The first car will be on the road from 0813 local time.
