Dani Oliveira retired from the Acropolis Rally due to engine problems
Daniel Oliveira and Carlos Magalhaes couldn't complete the Acropolis Rally of Greece, sixth round of the FIA World Rally Championship. The BWRT crew members had to drop out in the first stage of the final day of action due to engine problems in the Ford Fiesta RS WRC serviced by the Stohl Racing team.
We don't know what happened.
Oliveira started second on the road today, and he was hoping to push a bit harder. Yesterday he was in charge of sweeping the surface for his rivals for the first time in the WRC season, and that limited his performance.
The final day of action in Greece started with the classic 19.42km Aghil Theodori speed test. The stage where Oliveira gave up his chances also turned out to be disastrous for others three top drivers who also got trouble in th is really tough stage.
The first competitive kilometres were a rehearsal for the New Loutraki Power Stage that the drivers would tackle later. Oliveira completed the first split times setting a fast pace, but he stopped after 15 kilometres.
"We don't know what happened. The car was working properly in the first kilometres; we didn't hear anything wrong in it. It has just stopped, and was impossible to start it again. It was a shame, we had high expectations for this final day after the job we did yesterday" said Oliveira.
That was how the Brazilian driver finished his third challenge of the 2012 WRC season.
Now Daniel and the BWRT will take a break until Rally of Germany, which will take place August 22th-24th.
