Whether it be on the drivers', teams' or regulations' fronts, it was always clear that the 2002 rally season - which kicks off this weekend with the celebrated Monte Carlo Rally - was going to see some significant changes at world level. To begin with, not one of this year's WRC teams features an identical driver line-up to 2002. The stars have been on the move and a number of top guns have switched to outfits they would not so long ago have considered sworn enemies. In sporting terms at least.

The most notable transfers obviously include the switch to Peugeot-Michelin of defending champion Richard Burns who returns to the tyre manufacturer with which he claimed his first WRC wins back in 1998. Meanwhile, Tommi M
