Sebastien Ogier was unable to close in on Jari-Matti Latvala Saturday.
Ogier is falling further behind his VW teammate and now, he faces a 31.2 second deficit going into the final day. A spin and a flat tire certainly did not help aid the reigning WRC champion in his crusade to overthrow Latvala. The tire issue loosened the front bumper unit which ended up falling off and the lack of cooling overheated his machine.
The third VW, piloted by Andreas Mikkelsen, has worked his way back up to 4th and has his eyes set on the 3rd place Citroen, driven by Kris Meeke. More technical issues forced Dani Sordo and his Hyundai to retire from the event completely while his teammate Thierry Neuville rebounded after a rough Friday to 5th on Saturday. Both Mikkelsen and Neuville returned to the Rally under Rally 2 rules.
Robert Kubica had a scary incident with a rock, that almost sent his Ford Fiesta over on its lid. Nasser Al-Attiyah currently leads WRC-2. Saturday was much more tame than the attrition-filled stages on Friday. Rally Argentina heads into the final day of competition, as Jari-Matti Latvala hopes to secure the victory.
The final stages feature some very rocky terrain, so it could certainly get dicey as the end of WRC's trip to Argentina nears!
