Ford Confirmed as 2006 Manufacturers' World Rally Champions

Ford has been confirmed officially as the 2006 Manufacturers' World Rally Champion in the 2006 FIA World Rally Championship.

The FIA crowned its 2006 World Champions at a Gala Ceremony at the Monaco Sporting Club on December 8, 2006. Trophies were presented to the winners of the Formula One (F1), World Rally Championship (WRC), World Touring Car Championship (WTCC) and all the other FIA championships during the annual FIA event.

Ford was awarded with the 2006 FIA World Rally Championship Manufacturers' Trophy, which was collected by Ford Team RS Director, Jost Capito, and BP- Ford World Rally Team Principal Malcolm Wilson.

. International - Rally Car of the Year Trophy during the Autosport Gala dinner in London on December 3, 2006. Ford of Europe President & CEO, John Fleming, Christian Loriaux and Malcolm Wilson jointly received the award at the Grosvenor House, where the ceremony was held. Christian Loriaux was the lead engineer for the new 2006 Focus RS WRC project.

. Autosprint (the key Motorsport magazine in Italy) crowned Ford Motor Company with the Casco D'Oro Award (Golden Helmet Award) on Saturday, December 9, 2006. Ford received this award because of its success in winning the 2006 WRC Manufacturers' Title. The Trophy was collected by Ford Team RS Director Jost Capito. The ceremony was held at the Bologna Motor Show.
