Claude Satinet - Chairman of Automobiles Citroën - announced this morning at his Paris Motorshow press conference, that a one year contract had been signed with Colin McRae for the 2003 WRC season - the first full WRC season for Automobiles Citroën.
"I am delighted that Colin McRae is joining the team" said Claude Satinet. I look forward to a maximum of wins for the next season and also to score the highest number of points towards the manufacturer's title."
Guy Fréquelin commented. "I am very pleased with the deal with Colin. The 34 years old Scot and 25 times- rally - winner has the strongest experience in the WRC. His joining us will help us to push further the development of the Xsara WRC.
We went through very long negotiations. I have been in touch with Jimmy - Colin's father- for 2 to 3 years. Colin was only interested in a complete programme and this is why we have only reached an agreement now."
I wanted to hire a top driver and now it's done. I am also convinced that Colin will be a great team-mate for the young and promising Sébastien Loeb"
