Following a fax vote by the members of the World Motor Sport Council and the competitors in the FIA World Rally Championships, an amendment has been made to the points system to align with the FIA Formula One World Championship. This takes place with immediate effect.

Points will be awarded at each event according to the following scale:

1st       25 points

2nd 18 points
3rd 15 points
4th 12 points
5th 10 points
6th 8 points
7th 6 points
8th 4 points
9th 2 points
10th 1 point

The scoring system will apply to the FIA World Rally Championship, the FIA Production Car World Rally Championship, the FIA Super 2000 World Rally Championship, the FIA Junior World Rally Championship and the FIA WRC Cup for Teams.
