Sebastien Loeb and Daniel Elena are both okay but their Citroen DS3 has damage after the championship team went off course on the seventh stage of Rally Sweden. The FIA World Rally Championship winter event is always a demanding challenge but it is rare to see the eight times champion make an error.
Loeb is not out of the action but he dropped down to 11th position after sliding into a snowbank in the second corner of Kirkener stage and ended up losing time to the overall current leader, his own team mate, Mikko Hirvonen.
Prior to the afternoon stages, Loeb commented, “It's very tricky," he said. "Mikko [Hirvonen] is ahead and it is not easy for me. I would be happy with second or third place here, but that doesn't mean I'm not going to push to try and win."
