Following examination by physicians, it has been discovered that Armin Schwarz has fractured his third and fourth rear left ribs.

He is undergoing chiropractic treatment and physiotherapy, including ice treatment to reduce swelling, three times a day. In addition he is receiving magnetic field therapy once a day to promote bone healing, successfully used before on Michael Schumacher's foot. He has also been prescribed medication to encourage bone healing.

His physicians commented that the Recaro seat used by both Armin and co-driver Manfred Hiemer, with its high back and side wings for head safety, was valuable in protecting the head and neck from injury - given the nature of the accident doctors would have at least expected whiplash.

Armin Schwarz commented, "I am receiving treatment every day and each day it is strengthening. I am hoping to start some light training by Friday this week on my home bike as the blood circulation will also help the healing process - I don't want to risk getting back into the car too soon."

The Hyundai Castrol World Rally Team will be keeping in contact with Armin and his physicians to monitor his progress and hope to be able to try Armin back in the Accent WRC as soon as he is fit enough within the next couple of weeks.
